Suffragan Bishop Dr. Cynthia F. Bynum, D.Min.

Meet Pastor Dr. Cynthia F. Bynum

Dr. Cynthia F. Bynum, affectionately known as Pastor Cynthia, is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Greater Faith International Ministry is a ministry committed to proclaiming Jesus, making disciples, and serving communities through Faith, Formation, Leadership, and Justice.

Pastor Cynthia believes that God is faithful, and because God is faithful, God’s people are called to live with intentional faith, unwavering hope, and steadfast obedience. Guided by Hebrews 10:23, she encourages believers to "hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for God who promised is faithful." Her preaching and teaching emphasize spiritual formation, biblical discipleship, compassionate leadership, and faithful witness in today's world.

Pastor Cynthia surrendered her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and received the gift of the Holy Spirit at the age of fifteen while attending Grace Deliverance Tabernacle in Chicago, Illinois, under the pastoral leadership of Elder Danny L. Thompson and Evangelist Barbara A. Thompson. At sixteen, she answered God's call into ministry and became the church's first Youth Leader, beginning what has become more than four decades of faithful ministry, leadership development, teaching, mentoring, and pastoral service.

Throughout her ministry, Pastor Cynthia has demonstrated a unique gift for helping people discover hope, healing, and purpose through God's Word. Her pastoral approach combines sound biblical teaching with compassionate care, equipping believers to mature spiritually while addressing the practical realities of everyday life. She remains committed to serving God's people through prayer, worship, discipleship, and authentic relationships that lead to lasting transformation.

After faithfully serving at The Cathedral of Grace Apostolic Church in Marietta, Georgia, under the leadership of Elder Willie and Dr. Marie Johnson, Pastor Cynthia was led by God to establish Greater Faith International Ministry. In January 2020, the ministry was officially incorporated with a mission to proclaim Jesus Christ, develop mature disciples, strengthen families, and serve communities through ministries of faith, justice, and compassionate outreach.

Pastor Cynthia's commitment to lifelong learning reflects her belief that effective ministry requires both spiritual depth and intellectual preparation. She earned the Doctor of Ministry from Howard University School of Divinity (2026), where her research focused on the intersection of women in ministry, Pentecostal leadership, and social justice within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. She also earned a Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University (2022), completed the Black Theological Leadership Institute Fellowship at Princeton Theological Seminary (2024), and received a Certificate in Faith and Justice from Georgetown University's Center on Faith and Justice (2023).

In addition to her theological education, Pastor Cynthia earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from Fordham University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Business Information Systems. She is also a graduate of Emory University's Paralegal Studies Program. Her professional experience spans executive leadership, nonprofit management, legal education, organizational development, and strategic planning, allowing her to serve both the Church and the broader community with excellence.

Today, Pastor Cynthia serves in several leadership capacities within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., including as Suffragan Bishop in the Georgia State Council, where she oversees the Office of Theological Education, Credentials & Licensing. She also serves as International Deputy Director of Love in Action Social Justice Ministry, helping equip churches to faithfully engage issues of justice, compassion, civic responsibility, and community transformation through a biblical lens.

Whether preaching from the pulpit, mentoring emerging leaders, teaching Scripture, advocating for justice, or serving the community, Pastor Cynthia's life reflects a singular mission: to glorify Jesus Christ by making disciples, developing leaders, and helping build the Beloved Community where faith is lived, hope is restored, and God's love is demonstrated in action.
